Since March 16th, 2008, we have been asked to not speak publicly about this case. We believed that justice would be served. We were sure that Rachel Leann Silva would be found to be the aggressor and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon. We believed Frank would be vindicated. We were wrong. We are frustrated with the many misconceptions of what really happened on March 15th. We are not here to stir up public controversy, nor are we here to try this case in the court of public opinion. That has already been done. We are here to set the record straight with the following five points.
We have stood by silently as two honest, law-abiding public servants have had their lives destroyed by Rachel Leann Silva. We can sit silently and wait no longer. We see no other alternative than to be the voice for our family. As you may know, on Monday, July 28th, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis pressed charges against Frank. If convicted, he faces a sentence of nine years in prison. The Whites are again victims, first of Rachel Silva and now of the legal system. We are here to demand justice for the two victims that up to this point have been ignored, Frank and Jacquellynn 'White. Charges against Frank should never have been filed; he is not guilty of any wrongdoing. We demand that the District Attorney drop these charges. It is the duty of the Attorney General to protect the rights of the victims of crime. Why have there been no charges filed against Rachel Leann Silva on behalf of our sister, Jacquellyn White? We have been in contact with the Attorney General’s office by telephone. To date, our questions regarding the charges against Rachel Leann Silva remain unanswered. We demand that the Attorney General of California charge Rachel Leann Silva appropriately, beginning with Assault with a Deadly Weapon. We are fighting this injustice. To make our demands known, we have begun a letter writing campaign. As we stand before you, letters demanding justice for our family have been sent to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Diane Feinstein, Attorney General Edmund Brown Jr., Congressman Darrell Issa, Congressman Duncan Hunter, Assemblywoman Mimi Walters, Chief Assistant Attorney General Dane Gillette, Senior Assistant Attorney General Gary W. Schons, Supervising Deputy Attorney General James D. Dutton, MADD National President Laura Dean-Mooney and MADD Chief Executive Officer Charles A. Hurley; this is just the beginning. We also have a website, www.thetruthaboutfrank.com devoted to just that, the truth about Frank White. There people can find more information about the incident and ways they can help our family and join in our fight. We ask that everyone visit our website, join our letter-writing campaign, call the law-makers of this state, and help us send the message that prosecuting VICTIMS of violent crime is not the answer! Today, we ask that all decent, law-abiding citizens of San Diego stand with us and demand that justice be served. It could have been your brother, your sister or your child on their way to the grocery store! This incident could have been a lot worse and we want everyone to know how proud we are of Frank. He didn’t do anything wrong. He saved his life and the life of our sister/daughter. We are very grateful to him for that. He is our family’s hero. |
